Additional Brooklyn Nets Info

The Brooklyn Nets are one of two NBA teams located in New York City. The team was established in 1967 as a charter franchise of the NBA’s rival league, the American Basketball Association (ABA). They played in New Jersey as the New Jersey Americans during their first season, before moving to Long Island in 1968 and changing their name to the New York Nets. During this time, the Nets won 2 ABA championships thanks in large part to basketball icon Julius “Dr. J” Erving. The Nets were absorbed into the NBA during the 1976 NBA–ABA merger.

In 1977, the team returned to New Jersey and played as the New Jersey Nets from 1977 to 2012. The team saw intermittent success during the 35-year period, and peaked in 2002 and 2003 when all-star Jason Kidd led the team to 2 consecutive Eastern Conference championships. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to capitalize on that momentum and failed to bring home an NBA Championship. In the summer of 2012, the team moved to Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and officially became the Brooklyn Nets. The borough has embraced the team and Brooklyn Nets Ticket Holders especially enjoy watching the team play geographic rivals, the New York Knicks. Due to the Knicks being located in Manhattan and the Nets being located in Brooklyn, the rivalry has come to be known as the “Clash of the Boroughs.”

Brooklyn Nets Ticket Holders have been waiting patiently for their team to rebuild and make a serious run for the NBA Championship. Fans can secure seats to watch the Brooklyn Nets take on visitors at Barclays Center through Golden Tickets.
